"God stands up to open heaven's court. He pronounces judgment on the judges. How long will you judges refuse to listen to the evidence? How long will you shower special favors on the wicked? Give fair judgment to the poor man, the afflicted, the fatherless, the destitute. Rescue the poor and helpless from the grasp of evil men. But you are so foolish and so ignorant! Because you are in darkness, all the foundations of society are shaken to the core. I have called you all 'gods' and 'sons' of the Most High. But in death you are mere men." Psalms 82:1-7 (Life Application Bible)
God is A Fair Judge
The theme of the above verse is that God is a fair judge. If you treat your fellow brothers and sisters with evil intentions, man need not judge you. That judgment is God's and He will judge the evil, this I believe.
I watched a "free movie" titled "And Justice for All," yesterday that left me almost exhausted. I feel Al Pacino is a fantastic actor, although, he was much younger in this film.
The theme of the movie is the law and how evil can hamper justice in our world. The guilty do not always get their just punishment and the innocent are oft times convicted.
We judge and punish others with our mouths.
We judge and punish others with our actions.
We judge and punish others with our written words.
We judge and punish others with our body language.
AND, God, will judge us in the end, when it is all over.
When it is all over, we will be with God on that judgment day, in my estimation, clothed all the same. No one will be richer or poorer than the any other will. No one will be more beautiful than the other will. As we sit before God, we will be the same on the outside.
Ah, there is the rub, on the outside. God looks into our hearts and our souls and sees the real person. If the heart is blackened by ill deeds and ugly mouths, wicked actions, hurtful words and abusive body language, God will know.
The only way to escape that blackened heart is to repent and try to be of clean mouths, loving actions, softly written words, and kindly body language. When we change from the ugly and wicked ways of our lives, then we have a chance and a good judgment. It is very easy to change our hearts if we will only go before our Lord and lay our sinfulness at the foot of the Cross. If we truly repent and lay our wickedness and wonton ways down, God washes us clean by love, His son, Jesus Christ.
Society is so corrupt, I truly cannot believe the unthoughtful ways we go about our "living." We are rude, not caring, and snap to judgment, hurtful folks. Just notice as you go about driving, going shopping, and even going to church. We had better straighten our ways or we are a doomed society.
There are those among us who are so wealthy they have no idea of what some of society endures. What do the wealthy know about the single mother having to count change just to buy peanut butter and bread? Do you think our politicians, really, have any idea of what it is to be poor?
Indeed, some of us bring our sad situations upon ourselves. Look around you, please, especially this coming month and notice the folks about you. Maybe I am of a different make of person, but when I go out I often wonder what is going on in the car next to me at a stop light, what is going on as I drive down my neighborhood street to my home. Are people sad, hungry, and angry, in need of something? I so want to reach out and scream to the world, "Please let me help you." I do not do that.
Instead, I go into a pawnshop and see if I can leave my card. I had a strong desire to go there. It was the right time to do so. What I thought I was going to accomplish by leaving my cards is truly beyond me. I cannot give money to those in need, but I can give help of some kind.
That day, the woman I spoke to and tried to explain what I had planned, stood and just looked at me. Then she opened up and told me her story. Yes; she works at the pawnshop, yes; she has children, yes; she holds down two jobs, and goes to college. Yes, she was in need.
Since last August, I have been holding two nice sized boxes of my granddaughter's out grown clothes. I tried to offer them to an organization in Ft. Wayne, but they never got back to me. For some reason, only God knew, I did not want to give the clothes to any one else. I often give to Good Will and the Salvation Army, but not these clothes. These clothes stayed in my home in their boxes, until that day, two weeks ago.
The young woman told me of her needs and the needs of another. So, I told her I would go home and get the clothes. She started to cry. She did not understand why I was there, at that time, however, she was very grateful.
I did. Does this make me a good person, NO; it just shows that I am a person that tries to listen to what God wants me to do.
So, lesson, for the month, go, repent, and lay your sins at the foot of the Cross. Go and ask God to forgive you through Jesus Christ. Go out among your fellow brothers, sisters, and give:
Good clean words from your mouth.
Show loving ways in your actions.
Write a nice note or email to someone.
Be gracious and loving in your body language.
Dear God, please help us to go forth this coming month and do as You ask us to do, so when the judgment day comes we can sit before You, fresh and clean in our hearts and souls. AND when we fall down and sin again, help us to know that we can come to You, on fallen knees, contrite hearts, and tears, falling at Your feet, asking forgiveness, once again. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
